Punch newspaper is leading with a report that an accidental discharge from a gun of one of the security agents attached to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, injured a female worker.
The incident occurred at about 2.30pm at a security checkpoint at the Administrative Reception near a clinic, located on the premises.
The operative was said to be trying to empty the weapon before submitting it at the security point when the bullet went off.
The woman, who sustained injuries on her abdomen, back and thigh, was quickly taken to the clinic for first aid treatment.

On the front page of The Nation is a report that former President Olusegun Obasanjo has dismissed as “tissues of lies and untruths” some aspects of Oba Sikiru Adetona’s autobiography.
The Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, in his “Awujale: The autobiography of Alaiyeluwa Oba S. K. Adetola, Ogbagba II” (Mosuro Publishers 2010, pp. 187-195) tells of how Obasanjo frustrated Globacom chairman Mike Adenuga’s bid to obtain a GSM licence, despite being a beneficiary of the businessman’s generosity.
Obasanjo noted that Adenuga did not need to send anything to satisfy him or establish his innocence but only needed to satisfy the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Vanguard is leading with a news that the Police in Abuja, yesterday, raided a Maitama property believed to be owned by former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan. Eye witness accounts said policemen numbering about 20, stormed the house located on Igbeti Rock Street and forcibly gained entry into the house after overpowering the single security man keeping guard over the house. Mrs. Jonathan was not in the house at the time and it could not be confirmed, as at press time, yesterday, if she lives in the house.

Guardian newspaper is leading with a report that attempt to lift the immunity against prosecution being enjoyed by the president, vice president, state governors and their deputies has suffered a setback in the Senate.
The newspaper learnt that the Senate has suspended the consideration of the bill which sought to amend Section 308 (2) of the 1999 Constitution to allow for the prosecution of the affected leaders on matters relating to economic and financial crimes even when in office.
Sponsored by Ovie Omo-Agege (Labour Party, Delta State), the Senate Bill 329 which has already been gazetted and introduced to the lawmakers was referred to the committee on constitution review chaired by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu last December.
